Before you buy a used suv
- Check whether it has AWD/4WD or front-wheel drive only — listings don't always say.
- If it has a third row, sit in it: space varies a lot between models.
- Run the VIN for open safety recalls and ask the seller whether they have been repaired (repairs are free at a dealer).
- Get a pre-purchase inspection from an independent mechanic before you pay.
